Tucked the kids in
Tried to sneak out the door
Missing creaky floorboard was my sin
They begged for just one more
Favourite book, favourite story
‘You must know it off by heart.’
Their taunts began to annoy me
Again I read it from the start
I spoke the words blind
They just smiled and snuggled
Last page I rushed to find
With repetition I struggled
As pages turned I looked to see
If they were actually listening to me
Saw they were lost in fantasy
Words of page their reality
And now, I too believe in unicorns and dragons
Fairies kissing frogs and purple bees
That the Blue is real for me
To many not an open book
Unless, of course, you see what I can see
