A House Upon the Hill

Far away, in a distant land, was a home,  upon the hill.
There were stories told of the place but few ever believed them.
Some said the house was haunted.
Others felt it should be torn down and something else erected.
But the owners totally disagreed and kept the place.
Bars were on the windows and the door was heavy to enter.
The house had a mind of its own though no place really does.
It was there the ghost stories started because of the candle going down the stairs.
It was suggested that the place was a mansion by most people.
It has many features as  a mansion would.
Plenty of rooms throughout the house and the yard all weeded and with trees.
This is a place that the children feared as they walked by going to school.
They soon decided to tear it down and left the grounds as they were.
The children had nothing to fear of the house for it was now gone.
But what about the grounds?
