When you work your pay is no gift,
Rather it is something you earn;
Which should be giving an uplift,
From all your labor that you learn.
When you do not work but believe,
God will be the one that approves;
And it is His grace you receive,
The obligation He removes.
If God approves then He will bless,
Disobedience forgiven;
Because you have gone to confess;
Your faith is what has been driven.
Because your sins have been pardoned,
After going to God in prayer;
Your heart is no longer hardened,
Since you have been willing to share.
Bless the person of whom the Lord,
Now no more considered sinful;
With desire of one accord,
And everlastingly faithful.
Be not ashamed of the Gospel,
It holds power if you believe;
The power to save all people,
Eternal life they will receive.
This approval begins and ends,
With your faith as the Scriptures say;
It will stay straight and never bends,
But the Lord can mold it like clay.
