God’s Amazing Grace

If we should list our imperfections…
Try to perfect them on our own….
We couldn’t meet our expectations
Because they’re much too overblown.

Why should we have to prove ourselves
When we’re already pre-approved?
Our sins have been forgiven…
Our guilt and shame have been removed.

We are so vulnerable to check lists…
Checking rights and wrongs galore.
Somehow we fear if we mess up
God won’t love us anymore.

But love does not reward behavior…
Love's a gift from nail scarred hands.
What we do, have done, or apt to do
Will alter none of Grace’s plans.

Grace replaces every “have to”
Every “ I should” or “I must”
With because He loves me “I can” do this
And “I will” not lose His trust.

Because Grace sees past our efforts…
Probing deep into our hearts…
Sees our desire to please the Lord
In spite of each and all our faults.

 All routines and regulations
Are just extensions of The Law…
Grace gives us a relationship
That should keep us all in awe.

We’ve done nothing to deserve it
But it is ours to embrace.
In Christ our freedom is forever
Found in God’s Amazing Grace.

~~Dedicated to my sister, Shirley,
And the song  (done in Cajun French)
is dedicated to the memory
of our grandmother, Felicia Bonin Babin Dugas,
who taught me to say prayers in French
when I was just a child.~~

Ephesians 2:8
 - For by grace are ye saved through faith;
and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God:

2 Corinthians 12:9
- And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient
for thee: for my strength is made perfect in
weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather
glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ

may rest upon me.

Galatians 2:21
 - I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if
righteousness [come] by the law, then Christ
 is dead in vain.

 1 Corinthians 15:10
 - But by the grace of God I am what I am:
and his grace which [was bestowed] upon me
was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than
they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.
