The Pecan Trees of My Past

For years my parents and I attended a local church.
We became the maintenance crew of the church.
The things Mom would do was what she did every week.
The things I would do is the same.
This left Dad and what he was to do is to pick up the pecans that fell from the trees.
There are the other things Dad did but that was something only he could do.
The pecan trees of my past are many for there was a whole yard full of pecan trees.
I remember one time I had my clubber named Ricky to get up in the tree and knock some of the pecans down.
He did it but I became fearful of him falling and had him to quickly get out of the tree.
The many pecans we got were good to eat and totally ripe if  you will in the shell.
I enjoyed having my share of them as Mom would prepare them for us.
Mom had given some of the pecans away to the other parishioners.
It was something Mom did yearly.
For the trees most of the time bore fruit and it was only one year when they didn't.
The Lord was mighty good to us back then and I remember them so well today.
