FIGHT THE POWER

Have you really freed yourself?
From the mental slavery that is
Your relationship with her

How’s that working for you?

You say you have conducted
Your life the way you did
Because you don’t want to be her

How’s that working for you?

You say you’re the kind of mother You are
Because you didn’t want to be
The kind of mother she was

How’s that working for you?

You conduct your personal relationships
Completely different
Than she would have done

How’s that working for you?

The key to it all it seems
Is to not be like her in the least

How’s that working for you?

The more you make these declarations
Of freedom from her
The more your enslavement continues

You have to face the real person
That has kept you enchained

Look in the mirror
Face your enslaver
Fight the power
And set yourself free
Release yourself
