BY HIS LOVE (A POEM FOR THE LENTEN SEASON)

BY HIS LOVE

"He is the radiance of God's glory and bears the stamp of God's hidden being, so that His powerful word upholds the universe. And after taking away sin, He took His place at the right hand of the divine Majesty in Heaven." Hebrews 1:3

Jesus is God and human. His passion and death reveals so much of His pain....too excruciating to bear but He surrenders Himself because of His love for us...beyond measure. I'm sharing this poem...
As I prayed the three O'clock prayer for the Divine Mercy, i had this inspiration, "May Christ's beauty resounds to the very ends of the earth...."

Silent tears fill the darkness
of Gethsemane, the Night bellowing
the betrayal of a kiss and the deep slumber
of His comrades who slowly deserted Him
in pain…alone. Elusive as His grief
in leaving the place he once walked,
the family he dearly loved,
and the people He shepherded as His flock
but His will to drink the Cup
Is stronger ….fuller as the moon escorting Him
while in chains… and the angels watching over His march
to His Passion….Tassels and robes castigated Him…
Swords and capes hit him like a scoundrel.
A blasphemer…a liar…. All these and more, His accusers hurled at him
But He held His silence…deep as water… His humility
Whiter than snow….His spirit meek as a lamb.  No
Curse ever ran from His lips…only blessing…forgiveness.
A twisted crown of thorns mocked His royalty but still, kept
His silence. Our guilt inflicted His flesh, scourge thrust deep,
Blood spurting, cleansing our souls. His cross made heavy
by our transgressions, still, He kept his silence. He opened His
arms wide, sharp nails hammering down. His blood dripping
yet His mercy flowing over. He loves us so much
that He gave up His last breath.
As the sun goes down and the birds
have come home to their nests, have we ever
wondered that it is by His love that we live,
it is by His love that we are called, Sons and daughters of God,
it is by His love that we are promised to eternal life.
In Calvary, salvation springs forth like fresh blossoms
in the earth….and the darkness, no more.

"He also says: 'I will trust in God; here I am and the children God has given me.' And because  all those children share one same nature of flesh and blood, Jesus likewise had to share this nature. This is why His death destroyed the one holding the power of death, that is the devil, and freed those who remained in bondage all their lifetime because of the fear of death. Jesus came to take by the hand, not the angels but the human race. So He had to be like His brothers in every respect, in order to be the High Priest faithful to God and merciful to them, a priest able to forgive and atone for their sins." -Hebrews 2:13-17

"but God revealed His eminent goodness and love for human kind and saved us, not because of good deeds we may have done but for the sake of His own mercy. He gave us rebirth in baptism and renewed us by the Holy Spirit poured over us through Christ Jesus our Savior, by the grace of God we were made holy and now we hope for everlasting life, our inheritance." -Titus 3:4-7
