Reason for Alarm
Our happiness should not begin
Where the innocent must cry
When we expect them to forbear
And dare not question why.
That we should not be bothered
At the price they have to pay
As long as we don't have to feel
The pain we send their way.
But isn't it contemptuous
That we, so self-immersed
Are the very ones who truly think
Our needs always come first?
No, happiness should not be had
While causing others harm
To the innocent who never saw
A reason for alarm.
Where the innocent must cry
