ramblings and things

1,302,841 poems read

The city centre is dying

Dilapidated, run down.

What have they done to

My once proud town.

Boarded up shops

Empty once more

Replaced by charity shops

Or a mobile phone store.

They breed in the centre while

Conventional ones disappear

If it goes on like this pretty soon

They'll be the only ones here.

There are three shopping centres with

Few new businesses  accommodated

Just the old established  firms

Which have re located.

Pawnbrokers and money stores

Or those for payday loans;

The commerce in the city

Being stripped to its bare bones.

There is an air of resignation

Hanging over the place

You can read the despair

In many a street face.

But the spirit of the city

Is very much alive.

All things in time pass

And my city will survive.
