 Fading Of A Friendship

Fading Of A Friendship

No, she isn't at all hard-hearted;
Don't know how that got started.
A bit rough around an edge or two,
But she'll walk an extra mile for you.....

We've been friends a long time now
Maybe even something closer somehow
I learned to take what she dished out
And to figure what she's all about....

We ain't goin' steady, says she ain't ready
Somethin' about still bein' scared of Daddy
...It don't mean a thing, life is like that
None of us has our reasoning down pat....

High school life is about to fade away
Preparations going on for graduation day
Her college in the east and mine in the west
Will put our friendship to the test....

When we both come home for the holidays
Maybe we won't have changed in too many ways
Perhaps we can keep from drifting too far
But that usually isn't the way things are....
