'' A Badge Of Honour Is What They Portray ''

Each wrinkle I have tells a story,
About my eventful life,
Some of sadness others of glory,
Marks of pleasure though some of strife.

If I didn't have lines I wouldn't be here,
I'd have died when I was but a lad,
They show I've lived through happiness and fear,
That's why I rarely feel sad.

We age from birth till the day we die,
No lines means you've seen little living,
Either that or you're telling a lie,
That in itself can be so unforgiving.

Accept who you are and admit what you do,
If wrong then accept any blame,
If you start a task you must see it through,
Stress is brought on by shame.

Constantly deceiving takes a lot of guile,
Your memory has got to be good,
There's nothing worse than lying through a smile,
It's not only wrong it is rude.

Hands like a rasp show you've worked very hard,
Yet like a baby's can mean they do as well,
So be careful how you mark someone's card,
Just by looking sometimes you can't tell.

When you look at yourself do stand proud,
We can't stop the passage of time,
But we can ensure we stand out from the crowd,
Those lines can look really sublime.

Are they caused by worry or perhaps it's too sunny,
Laughter lines is another excuse,
I'm afraid there's nothing in life that funny,
I blame it on that dark fizzy juice.

So next time you think those lines leave you cold,
Just look at the beautiful array,
Though you believe they leave you looking old,
