every  election 
the authorities say 
we have a secret ballot
here in the uk

but every elector has 
an identity number which they note
on the tear off of the uniquely numbered 
paper on which we record our vote

they say this is used 
to avoid any fraud taking place
but how can they remember 
every single face

all those pairs of numbers
none of them the same
can so easily be used to discover
any address and a name

every election
the authorities say
we have a secret ballot
here in the uk

and on the eve 
of every election day
queen mab and her faeries
come out to play.
