What Remains

Orginally penned December 2, 2010

These words of mine

I leave behind

Scattered upon the places

of past stepped traces

a scattering of memories made

penned in shades of ink's stain

that they may remain

in heart's glade

Lost in the clouds of doubt

the moon hides its face

As the ink from the page melts through this place

The heart grows cold as a mountain air

across the waters of time

The mournful call of death is hard to bear

when the inked pages no longer rhyme

spans of hands can no longer reach

when death has called it far from me

will you still be able to read

above beyond the clouds where I stand alone beneath

will the pages matter

after the fact

of the aftermath

or will they blow like leaves washed in shades of reverie

From beyond the clouds my heart grows cold

looking upon you from beyond the seas

Wanting to see the words in ink so bold

Blowing in the oceans breeze

To hold you on that snowy sand

Is all I long for now

This darkness is so hard to stand

As I see you bow

The grave is cold and soon forgotten

As our life together on the pages of ink

Sands fill your footprint spots and

Your thoughts of me will be gone in a blink

never for what is etched upon heart

death can naught set apart

for the scars of love's passion made

effect progression in every waking day

legacy from thy loins walk

still upon the soil sod

Even as every teardrop sob

leaves mourning ocean eye's salt

your name will continue on

long after either of us are gone

for what is written in flesh

will withstand the embers of death

Our name together the cross will bear

etched by the sands of time

Our love will split through deaths tear

but live forever in our rhyme

For when the wind turns cold and the snow piles high

Then you shall surely see

Even within the Reaper's grasp

In my heart you will truly always be

written in collaboration with my HUSBAND ~ SHACK I LOVE YOU !!!
