My Childhood Garden

A flower garden once stood tall
protected by a white brick wall.
I would go there in the past day
until I grew up and moved away.
I miss the place of my childhood
where I felt safe and all was good.
The beauty of the earth stood still
among the trees and the daffodil.
I sat on the bench under a tree
and dreamt of the right one for me.
I was a teen among the plants
in my garden where the flowers dance.
I watched the stream flow nearby
and saw the clouds float in the sky.
The place of dreams is in the past
and my special garden didn't last.
I left the home that had my heart,
married and then love fell apart.
In the present day as an adult
I make mistakes that are my fault.
I lost the dreams my eyes once knew
among the flowers that I grew.
My old place of love and care
is like the past, no longer there.
The memory lives and all is fine
in the garden that was once mine.
Kept alive in my heart's eye
the place I love will never die.
