Life Story #18

Every time you see him he is always alone
No wife, no kids, not even a cell phone
He politely says hello but he never smiles
And he hasn't had visitors come around in a while
This man's golden years doesn't seem to gold
What lessons could be learned if his story was told
The first marriage didn't last long, and end really bad
She left with everything plus the two kids they had
He wasn't very nice to them even drove them away
They still don't come around to this very day
He soon found the woman who could change his life
After dating a while he made her his wife
She had children already so he had to adjust
And in a blended family patience is a must
But he wasn't patient no he wasn't kind
He soon made a big mess of his beautiful find
Although she loved him, cherished and served
He never treated her the way she deserved
Verbal abuse was how he ran his home
So as soon as the kids came of age they got lives of their own
He continue in his way of selfishness and pride
And didn't start to change until his wife got sick and died
But now it's too late, no one wants to come around
Still bitter from a life time of being put down
Hind sight is twenty-twenty his father use to say
Oh how he wishes he could return and do things a better way
He didn't value the most important things in life
Family, friends, his kids and his wife
Now old and alone so full of regret
Is this his end or is there hope for him yet
What do you value, what means the most to you?
If you had the chance to change, what would you do?
