Life Story #19

Happy come, happy go
There isn't a joke he doesn't know
His conversation pattern all over the place
So animated and fast paced
His energy seems to never end
He treats everyone like an old time friend
It borders on the thin line of annoying
The way this guy keeps going and going
What is his story, what is his deal?
Is all this a show or is it real
His wife died two years ago
He has a son he doesn't know
Forced into retirement just last year
And his future doesn't look to clear
In fact things seem to be real dark
Just downgraded his home to a mobile park
What is the constant celebration about?
With a single a tear these words came out
I once was an alcoholic and a drug addict
And my dealer and I had some static
He put a bullet in my head
And left me in a ditch for dead
This woman found me and got me help
Then nursed me until I could help myself
Started my recovery, and stayed all the way through
And showed me a world of love I never knew
Then through time she became my wife
This woman first save then changed my life
And though she is not here anymore
She is still what I'm living for
I have been given a second chance
That's why I sing and laugh and dance
Enjoy each new day as though it's my last
Because life can disappear so fast
What in the world would you do?
If your life was given back to you
