TO BRING BACK HIS INNAMORATA
Sighs and cries
Fill his silent room. His
Soul tires of soaring
Into the vast nothingness
Of his impeccable dream. Could there
be light, to illumine his way
back into the arms
Of his beloved, *Innamorata?
Can the moon serenade the beautiful melody
of her voice, the most salient
music of his being? Or is it still
the quietness that reigns... Her face
Concealed by towering mountains and surging
seas, a million miles in between them.
Innamorata, his thoughts
Derailed by his longing to feel her hands
once again and the times that speak
so much of their great love….
Could the angels pursue him
in his dreams when he ran through the cliffs
and called upon her name,
but beguiled by petals
falling off in winter breeze, the smooth
crackling of fire amidst the stones. There
may be torches from afar, flaming red
but no trace of his beloved,
innamorata. Only the fading wind
Of the night, so dark...her memory
but a shadow in solitude. Too sad, time
Is even powerless to bring her back.
