Fond memories of the past I have stored away
Of those who have gone and are most dear to me
My joy is to reminisce as the long years roll by
This poem is in honor of dear Dad's memory
As a child my Father bounced me on his knees
He'd fill my small head with tales of fighter planes
Of course I was mesmerized by such visions grand
His words were stamped forever on my tender brain
I could see the "Spitfires" soaring in the sky
I heard the screams of brave men in trenches deep
Dad's tales were vivid and I trembled at his words
Mom gently scolded him because I couldn't sleep
An Ex Serviceman felt proud to tell his tiny child
The experiences he encountered while in a land far
My Daddy journeyed from his home to fight in WW11
Today, I want to remind him, he's my shinning star
I've remembered Dad's words throughout my adult life
His vivid tales of war I've written in my repertoire
My childhood's fascination of Dad's war tales grew
I've penned lots of poems saved in my escritoire
The sacrifice of war heroes live on in my poetry
Their humble lives are legends for everyone to read
I share my great admiration for our fallen braves
Their unforgettable heroism are our sacred deeds
