Ever bought and paid for something
That was being sold "as is"?
The Lord did when He purchased us...
Claimed each damaged piece as His.
Blinded by the world that wooed us...
We wore a yoke of wasted years...
But He broke our chains and freed us...
In spite of all our doubts and fears.
For some of us were never certain
That God really did exist...
But He does not give up on anyone
And unbelievers top His list!
Some of us were just as certain
That our souls were just too stained...
That our sins were so atrocious...
Forgiveness could not be attained.
But God excells in the extreme...
Changes cold and calloused hearts.
His Spirit will strive extra hard
And praying plays a major part.
If no one on earth will pray for us,
Our precious Savior always will.
He's High Priest, our intercessor...
This role our Lord loves to fulfill.
The love that made Him bleed for us
Is a love that will not fade.
We owed a debt we could not pay
But, praise the Lord, that debt He paid!
As is...we all need to be fixed...
But that is our God's specialty.
From here until the great unknown
He'll work on you and work on me.
