Threading Myself Through The River Called Night

threading myself through the dark river of night
golden eyes glowing
freedom
threading myself

the tunnel of air soothes
the dark wind's caress
the occasional grass's parting whisper
to a needle's point of silence

threading myself through the dark river of night
blood churns through my veins
SO alive
threading myself

the damp of surrounding wetness seeps
the silence fills me and then creeps
the void that is never emptied
the thrill that is ever present here
I'm
threading myself through the dark river of night
muscles tightened, tensed then relaxed
evening's swiftness moves to dawn like glass
so I thread myself

until the yawing screech of day
then pad on and put myself away
one-pawed keeping
out the light
before my golden eyes

til once again
I am threading myself through the darkness
padding into another journey through
the long river of night.

OF COURSE THIS POEM IS FROM
ANOTHER'S POINT OF VIEW
OTHER THAN MY OWN
AND I'M DONG MY BEST TO IMAGINE IT
"yaw" referring to a wide open mouth...
and "yawing" being an invented word by myself/Melissa A Howells
