Over fifty years ago
You graduated from ole pale and blue
But that was years ago
Today your nephew plays green
Lately he's been a hitting machine
First at bat lines it to the corner
Pale blue left fielder makes a great catch
We all clap it deserved adulation's
Uncle is down, "Go go go for old pale and blue!"
Sounds like incentive to me
Pale and blue hit sure hit to right
The right fielder dives and it is even
Boo hoo hoo he robbed pale and blue
Up come the nephew at bat
Hits the ball so hard you don't know
where it is at--Until he comes to home plate
As he runs he doffs his hat
And runs right to his Uncle,
"Unk, that one was for you!"
Next bat they walk him but he scores again
Last at bat there's a deep long drive to center
After the game I said, "Wow you were robbed of two hits."
"Oh know Gramps, I scored two, two came in on the out.
That's four for me and we beat old pale blue 10-3."
Brother went far beyond the wall to retrieve home run.
It sailed into a far pond. He had to swim for it and
found a second ball. It had the cover gone. He gave that
to his Uncle to put on his old pale blue momento shelf
This is only in jest because I know my Brother in law
does this to put us on.
