@ Crazy Quilt/Crazy World

what is it with
the connections
I've been making
my pattern of interactions
many throughout my life
looks like a crazy quilt

the threads are all coming undone
and I am left without a quilt
a means of protection
a means of connection
I thought I was sewing together
a life

they say/who says
unraveling is sometimes what happens when
you put something together
only to see it fray and tear away

is it about those who make up
the fabric
or is it all about the creator
fabric being the most fragile
tissue of all
there are no conservators
only those patching things up

I have holes in my blanket
tears that need mending everywhere
who is it up to
to make all the repairs
does it take a bunch of midnight elves
does it take a little extra bit of heart
it surely takes some care and time
many spools of thread

but it takes an equal effort
something I have not come to expect
life is about repairing and
unraveling
there's not one guarantee about
the materials that you get

especially when you choose them.
