This poem is to honour my lovely youngest child Cindy-Anna who received her Hons degree in Law yesterday. She has worked so hard for years, is a single Mum to three, a driving instructor and a musician and in spite of watching her father suffer and pass away slowly from cancer, she made him a promise she would do it no matter what, and she did it. Yesterday I went to her graduation and felt her Da there with me. I was so proud and so was he.
I watched the ceremony
With awe and pride
My husband sitting
By my side
As oor wee lassie
Fully grown
Walked on the stage
In her blue gown
The tears began
My cheeks were wet
But I know I will
Not forget
Her proud head held
Up oh so high
Bowing to the Lord
As she passed by
Then walking proudly
To receive
The proof of what she
Has achieved
I know inside her heart
Was aching
For I know that mine
Was breaking
For in the flesh her Da
Had gone
But I know that he was
Looking on
And walked beside her
All the way
I shall not forget
This day

I even shouted it out loud
