Went outside to
Look for my thongs
The dogs must have
Hauled off somewhere
On the way back
Right by the cat door
The saddest thing
I ever saw:

One of the cats
Killed a baby rabbit
Body no longer
Than a Bic lighter
With head and tail
Half the size of a
Butter knife
Fur the colors of Fall

Oh those little bunny ears
Will no longer twist and turn
Listening for danger
One mother rabbit
Could be mourning

One of the cats
Killed a baby rabbit
I know it's the
Way of life
But it don't seem
No it don't seem
When it's babies
That you're killing
It just don't seem
