Through the Window to the Soul
Written by Adam M. Snow
In your eyes I see, staring back at me;
a window, darken door,
passage to your wandering soul.
With that glare, you look at me;
loss of hope, neither free.
In your eyes I see, anguish crashing like the sea.
Drowning, drowning in despair.
Gasping, gasping for air.
Feeling lost, I see you there
dying, slowly dying.
Through the window to the soul;
through the window to your soul,
I see you drowning in shallow dismay.
Oh the many restless nights,
endless tears and endless frights.
I see you there; I feel your pain;
a tragic loss of a friend.
In your eyes I see, myself staring back at me;
mirror image of my soul.
What was once a cage for me,
now a shattered memory.
In your eyes I see, staring back at me;
a window, darken door,
passage to your wandering soul.
Feeling trapped beneath the sea,
in a cage without a key;
drowning in your despair,
I am with you there.
A little help is all you need,
a little light to set you free.
I know your pain; I've been there before,
take my hand, I'll open your cage door.
Let me free you, I'll be your light
I'll shine so bright, darkness would flee.
When I gaze upon your eyes once more,
in your eyes I'd see, staring back at me
a bird uncaged, flying so free.
What was once a cage for you,
would be a shattered memory.
