The first lie he tells her,
"I will never break your heart."
She's learned over time
how those lovely words depart.
With star struck eyes he whispers.
"I will love you forever."
She knows the truth beyond the lie
how soon their affections sever.
"I would not hurt you as other men have,"
comes off his tounge so sweetly.
His words fall hollow on her ears
recalling pain she felt when she loved completely.
Embraces become chains which bind
and tender words become a poisin dart.
Neverending love becomes a killing disease
as his kisses bruise her heart.
There is a truth beyond the lie
she as others have seen
when love thrown about carelessly
turns from beauty to the obscene.
Dedicated to the women and men who have loved and trusted those who lied and used them.
