Rescue

I remember when my life was in peril,
When every part of me was falling apart.
When I felt like I was bent over a barrel.
Feeling that there was no cure for my heart.
I am so grateful that in the dark there was you.
In my deepest suffering, you came to my rescue.

Wave upon wave; crashing down upon me.
Pushing me down, taking away all my fight.
Giving into the power of life's powerful sea.
In the darkness I saw there was no light.
I couldn't seem to find my way through.
Yet there you came, coming to my rescue.

The mountain I was climbing was to steep.
Obstacles, trials, tests, I would fail and fall.
When my hope had run, out nothing to keep.
My strength, encouragement, I had none at all.
I felt lost, confused, had no clue what to do.
Here you come yet again, to my rescue.

Seems like always when ever I felt alone.
When ever I was lost, deserted or afraid.
You let your light shine, leading me home.
A small candle light, in a dark dreary cave.
A tender voice, loving embrace, made it through.
Because you always came running to my rescue.
