Behind the scenes that no one sees
The better part I long to be
Are you my Lord that keeps your light
Aglow to see what's within sight
Your goals not mine to share of you
To break of Bread that feeds me too
I run sometimes thinking my ways
Are mine to have but still you stay
Alongside me who often strays
Again some days, for me you've prayed
The days grow short as life does too
Upon this Earth that your hands drew
From cosmic dust as too my being
Of blessings yet, to keep believing
And so I hope if just today
I shine of you who made this day
To emulate the better part
Forging someone a renewed heart
The Better Part of Me
