The Language of the Lighthouse

Did you ever hear a lighthouse speak?
They have a very soothing tone.
With the voice of clear direction
They reflect on the unknown.

Light comes shining through the darkness
Exposing every hidden danger.
A beacon set against the night
Guide to both a friend or stranger.

Concerned for the lives of others
Rather than their very own…
Their purpose is more beautiful
Than the building they adorn.

Even greater than the darkness
Is the smallest ray of light…
It will guide a ship to safety
In the deepest folds of night.

If truth rides on the rudder
Or takes rest upon the sail…
And if trust is in the Captain
Then the winds of ill will fail.

Yes, the storms of life are raging
But the lighthouse offers hope…
Forgiven of all human err,
Damaged ships learn they must grope

Their way out of the blackness
That has sabotaged their sight
And let their weary eyes behold
The great and glorious Light.

Each believer is a lighthouse…
We are lighted with The Word.
And the language of the lighthouse
Is the sweetest ever heard.

~~Dedicated to Bishop Drew
whose words inspired this poem~~

~~Author's Note~~
A lighthouse shows the way and warns of danger.
We as Christians are called on to be a beacon or
lighthouse so that others can see the way to eternal
life through Jesus Christ.

Psalm 18:28
You, LORD, keep my lamp burning; my God turns
my darkness into light.

Psalm 27:1

The LORD is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I
fear? The LORD is the defense of my life; Whom shall
I dread?

Matthew 5:16
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your
good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
