Grandpa's truck, tired and gray
Sits out back by the fence
Like a dejected old soul
Tired and cold
With two hundred thousand memories
Racked up
Inside her rusted cocoon.
Now a growth of trees
Is sprouting up
Around her feet
And a nest of yellow-jackets
Are living under her seats
While I just sit here
With morning coffee
Contemplating
Just what I should do
With such an old friend.
