Cruel and Unusual

          Was once beaten about my face and head

          By a man who claimed to love me,

          I was both shocked and terrified

          As he hovered menacingly above me;

          He stopped in front of his best friend's house,

          Said to me, "I'm not through with you yet!"

          He thought I'd be there when he got back,

          Just how stupid can a stupid fool get?

          As he went into the house, I jumped from the car,

          And ran just as fast as I could;

          Hid behind an old lady's rose bush,

          Planning how to get him back good;

          I asked the old lady if she'd call my mom,

          Crying while trying to catch my breath;

           Mama drove me home and I got Daddy's gun,

          Had already planned my "man's" death;

          Was going to blow his brain clear from his head,

          But after hours went home dragging my tail;

          He never came home, so I did what was best...

          Called the police, he learned his lesson in jail.
