Writing a song does not take long,
It's just another form of verse,
In the written word they both belong,
To write them you don't have to rehearse.
Putting music to words does take skill,
But where there's a will there's a way,
If your dreams you want to fulfil,
Learning usually does hold sway.
Use the internet or read a good book,
Find a musician, who's willing to listen,
If the talent's there someone will look,
Very soon your song may well glisten.
There are one hit wonders who made it big,
Who had far less talent than you?
To their music we all danced a jig,
Their enthusiasm we could not subdue.
It's a long hard road but with skill and guile,
Who's to say you will not succeed,
On millions of faces you could put a smile,
For your talent there could be a stampede.
For every hit song there are a million flops,
The secret is you must never give in,
One day you may be on Top Of The Pops,
Like poetry,
