Blackness

Pitch black-lost down among the Tarmac

Of downtrodden pathways, boot soles dissolve

into churlish regards for living this insignificant life

But do we care where we tread, or with whom we cast

Our lot in life. We live sealed in the morass of self.

Seeking a way to elevate our thinking from the pitch

darkness we quest towards the light, but is it enough

to sustain the quagmire of tarmac minds with which

to our ultimate shame we constantly engage, the force

of minds obscured by limiting thoughts no deeper than

the boot soles sunken in the pitch black Tarmac. Ach

Imagine, to think and feel without recourse to closed minds.

Minds that drag slurry like through the darkness of daytime

Every way covered in pitch, but they cannot live in light.

Only the end of days finding solace from the Tarmac times.

But we who try to lift up a step above are constantly immersed

in slurry of darkness striving, to demean and take light from us
