An Unopened Book

Dog Eared Friend

My great and dearest friend.
Marked with dog eared pages.
The wisdom there I comprehend.
Wise writers, philosophers, sages.
Some in paper back some in hard.
Take me to far off places different times.
bindings broken, covers torn, scared.
Descriptions vivid, come alive in my mind.
Creating the ability to return there any moment.
In the tall grasses on a sunny spring day.
By a fire can be comfortable ease my torment.
Sometimes a line or two, let time slip away.
The joy found in works, written for my soul.
How often these friends can open with haste.
Letting my world fade, adventures I can go.
It doesn't matter there is no judge of my taste.
Thank you my greatest dog eared friend.
Within your words, structure, passage.
Within your covers from beginning to end.
I cherish your wisdom, remember your message.
Can not even think to judge you by your look.
My dearest dog eared friend, well worn book.
