Welcome to My life in the shadows
REPENTING
We had an old dog
My Mother named Neil
(After an inebriated St. Bernard
On some long forgotten
Black and white T.V. show)
Who was made to lay
Through the hours of the day
Down in the filthy coal dust
Of our dark and dank basement.
A dog
Who was seldom let out to play
In the clear light of day.
My God!
I think to myself.
What kind of a monsters
Were we
When I was seven?
