Welcome to My life in the shadows

THE PAINTED DESERT

Way out here
In the dusty places,
Near Big Rock Candy Mountain
Where dust devils rule
As sunshine rains down
Spotting red and uneven
Over the countryside.

Way out here
In the dance of desert
Horses and horizons
Begin to marble
With distance
As ghosts riders
Rise on thermals
Returning to sky,
Riding rough-shod
Through the stratus.

Way out here
In the forgotten places
Some ancient old soul
Thought it wise
To build these walls
Of knotted pine
Crackling
Under the weight
Of
Sunshine.
