Welcome to My life in the shadows
INTRANSIGENT
In city tense
Where sharp violence
Breaks out suddenly, like a midnight storm
Slippery and brightly
On the polished edge
Clean and warm,
But I must agree
Fallowed with sudden fear
As the contestants
Gasp for breath
Just to exploded in the excitement
Again and again.
Certainly we were young then
And the smash and forth of sport
Came in waves of bitter brutality
As seldom seen today
And though I would like to say
That there were better ways
In the old days,
As I often was
With a bloodied face and smile to boot,
All well deserved I might add
Being the champion
Of the time,
But there is,
I assure you Ma’am,
Love too
In the dark and dreary places
Under the doorways
And in the alleyways,
Behind Mr. Porter's wood shop;
Although in irregular rhythm
And contorted forms
As it were,
But love just the same
I say,
As when we were young
And gasped for breath.
