In the Memorial Gardens
On a windy day in July
I went to memorial gardens
Saw flowers placed with love and grief
Offerings from hearts that never heal.
It was quiet and peaceful there,
Sitting on a bench watching squirrels dance;
The trees were large and sheltering.
I fet sorry for all the empty vases,
Someone forgotten by their family
Or a partner visiting faithfully for years
Until they too passed from this world
And the younger generation didn't care anymore,
So left is a space without colour.
It is sad to see them so neglected,
Someone who lived and loved, laughed and cried
But is now not even a memory.
I went to memorial gardens
Saw flowers placed with love and grief
Offerings from hearts that never heal.
It was quiet and peaceful there,
Sitting on a bench watching squirrels dance;
The trees were large and sheltering.
I fet sorry for all the empty vases,
Someone forgotten by their family
Or a partner visiting faithfully for years
Until they too passed from this world
And the younger generation didn't care anymore,
So left is a space without colour.
It is sad to see them so neglected,
Someone who lived and loved, laughed and cried
But is now not even a memory.
