Welcome to My life in the shadows

One Little Rib

She always worries
About the way she looks
Throughout the day.
In the morning,
She spends hours and hours
In front of the bathroom mirror
When she wakes up,
Fretting over this and fretting over that
And I’ve always wondered why
She does it,
Seeing only the love lights
In her eyes.
I want to reach out and touch her,
I want to hold her
In my arms
And whisper sweet nothings
Into her ears.
I want to lift her up,
And sweep her away
To a softer place
Where we can speak more plainly,
More bluntly.
It’s just that it seems
There is always something
That gets lost
In the translation
Between a woman
And a man
Before the face goes on.
