When i was younger
so long ago from today,
i had a neighbor
that scared a lot away!
But me
she didn't scare,
for i could see
the person there!
Oh she was unique
some seen it as a flaw,
but just company she would secretly seek
and the inner being i saw!
They say she had no pot to piss in
and true her clothes were ragged and torn,
but none the less a human
kindhearted and not 1 to delight in scorn!
They called her Whiskey Jim
cause she toted it down the road,
her cart be filled to the brim
and how the loneliness showed!
She never bothered anyone
she just mumbled to herself and off she'd go,
she took a shine to me cause i didn't run
like the rest that feared her so!
Faron never got to meet her
she passed away before he was in these parts,
but anything less to her in kind would never occur
he too got 1 of those hearts!
Don't dismiss everything
that you don't understand,
just let it bring
them to your heart and open hand!
Some day you might be down
on luck and have too much to bear,
a simple gesture of compassion will make the frown
feel like it doesn't belong there!
But the hurting belong
and shouldn't be afraid to try,
just because they're not popular and strong
it's not another's place to ask why!
I too know what it's like to feel
like an outsider,
in my own neck of the woods it's unreal
reckon it's another case of the plague like her!
