sometimes what we misinterpret
is hidden somewhere in
between the lines

we find what is within ourselves
in another's words
but is it the writer's true
intention
or are we looking for our own
selfish re-invention

ask
I could have
perhaps I should have

if the meaning of a word or a phrase is not
literal
then perhaps it means
something else entirely
something more personal
and so deep a pain
the writer could only hint at its surface
by metaphor

I've got to start paying better attention
ask
and not assume
there is lots of room
for me to make mistakes
we're human

I like what he had to say
there are so many wishes in the world today
ask
and you shall receive

I hadn't thought of that
I'd been living in famine

thank you for the new chance at
abundance
I just didn't know it was out
there and mine
for the asking
