Running The Race

I haven’t lived a perfect life…
God knows my every wrong.
But, in spite of the mistakes I make,
I intend to finish strong!

By this, I mean, I won’t give up!
I’ll serve Him to the end!
Not only has He saved my soul…
The Lord is my best friend.

Yes, I still struggle against sin…
Temptation comes to all.
And, yes, I’m still resisting when
The strands of sickness fall.

Yet death will hold no fear for me!
Why should it when I know
What His Word has promised me
When it’s my time to go.

I stumble every now and then
Fall flat upon my face.
Yet I will keep on running
Until I do finish the race!

My path is not determined
By what I may think or feel.
It’s forever settled in God’s Word!
My faith in Him is real!

I’ll keep pouring into others
What His gift keeps giving me.
Until I’ve managed my last mile…
Until I’ve filled my destiny.

I won’t stray from my commitment …
Contentedly, I’ll keep the pace.
Would you like to run along with me?
It is a prize pursuing race!!!

~~Dedicated to Erlene~~

1 Corinthians 9:24
Do you not know that in a race all
runners run, but only one gets the prize?
Run in such a way as to get the prize.

Hebrews 12:
Therefore, since we have so great a
 cloud of witnesses surrounding
us,
let us also lay aside every encumbrance
and the sin which so easily entangles us,
and let us run with endurance the
race that is set before us,

I Corinthians 9:26
Therefore I do not run like someone
running aimlessly; I do not fight like
 a boxer beating the air.

2 Timothy 4:6-8
For I am already being poured out
as a drink offering, and the time of
my departure has come.  I have fought
the good fight, I have finished the course,
I have kept the faith;  in the future
there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness
which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award
to me on that day; and not only to me,
also to all who have loved His appearing.
