Ticki tacki boxes still can be found in
the flats on McLeod in the centre of town.
1932 was the year they were built
when the wharves sang up malay town built on stilts.

Two levels designed with corridors straight through
a feng shui disaster stirs a lethal brew.
Too many have topped off when the chips were down
three in one year says robert bruce at last count.

One old bloke there set up a novel task
with a passion to help before mates could ask.
Trick or treat samples in blessed cups of tea
with a health kick he swore by added for free.

Well the weeks went by and his mates became sick
at the cairns base they soon woke up to joe's tricks.
"A drink to clean you out", he told them no lie
but the dash of draino he had skipped on by.

Viva joe's cocktail they die another day
he was only trying to help so they say.
Health problems multiplied to sing their sad song
makes you wonder if the flipside of right's wrong.
