WHEN HE WAS ALIVE

A few years ago
His left hand
Would lie flat
On the middle
Of my back
On the other side
Of my heart
To slow the lub-dub
As I would sit with him
On my garnet velvet couch
It was like a huge bandaide
That would cover my ouch.
