I've seen it now several times
No fear of man seems to be..
It comes and flutters all around
So precious so wonderful so free..
Its six inches wide and as long
In its largest form that is to be..
Its as black as midnight and as well
The brightest red tail curtains to see..
Comes down yearly from the mountains
And graces our garden with its dance..
One sits and watches it with sincere joy
As if its presence has one in a trance..
The largest most beautiful butterfly
It knows this place to visit every year..
So large and ever beautiful and never shy
Stays a day then sadly to simply disappear..
