Several years back. My Grandson just a child.
We were vacationing in Eastern Washington. The
hills were alive with a wild fire not yet completely
under control. It was Halloween night and the lights
were off wondering if we were safe, and we nerviously
trading ghost stories. Each person took their turn.
The adults turned all lights off and set up for scary
fun. sirens and the hills red with fire and the starlit
night smoke filled. It was frightening enough overhead
red light blinking a low flying plane and to make
light of things I said that might be Santa Claus.
It did not work kids saw a witch on a broom.
GHOSTS AND GOBLINS ARE VEGETARIANS
In a circle we sat in darkness a starlit night;
The hills around on fire, OH, what a sight!
Candle light,Beatle framed cover, "Yesterday and today!"
Butchering babies in play for the Beatles risque.
The meek hid under blankets staying under cover
For on this night ghosts and goblins all around did hover
Brave children stood stories of personal nightmares
Adults turn came it was a time of children beware
Dark clouds enveloping a October orange-red moon
On the roof was heard the clattering of a silver spoon
Inside a record player was spinning an eerie song
Someone said, "Grateful dead" But they were wrong
"Wake up to my Nightmare!" Alice Cooper would scream
It would frighten any child who might Dare to dream
A voice shouted into the night, "I eat Grandpas!"
And from of the clouds above we thought we saw Santa Claus
All the adults and children but one rushed within
Grandson stood tall boldly said, "Ghosts, goblins are vegetarian!"
Grabbed my hand pulling me inside raised his fist,
"The End!"
