A WAR OF LIES

They told us this would be over by Christmas

little did they know the consequences of war

both sides dug in, and the carnage began...

Up to our knees in mud, death and dying

while all around the cannon fodder shouted

both day and night shattering ear drums

while taking away normal minds that once were...

We go over the top towards the wire at dawn

while raining down upon us their bullets

 rat-at-tet...mowing us down like dominoes

we have no chance, but we are British so we go!

Four years like this with many dead on both sides

a war to to end all wars they are saying now...

the word came within the trenches, 'ITS OVER'

even so the killing didn't stop until after ...
