Early one Friday evening the car stopped at my door
Inside was the person I had never met in person before
She lowered the window
And then I could see
My beautiful friend Kathryn smiling at me!
I had waited so anxiously for this day!
"Give me a hug!"
She heard me say.
Our paths joined in poetry throughout the years
We had shared so much laughter -- and yes, a few tears
That weekend we shared our beliefs about life
Our hopes and our dreams, sadness and strife.
She is a kindred soul and I was pleased to see
That on so many principles we simply agree.
Nowadays Kathryn is never sad or alone
I even spoke to her beloved David on the phone.
I will remember her visit for a long, long while
The three days my heart warmed to her shining blue eyes and wonderful smile.
