A Conversation Between a Rose and ChrysanthemumsWithin the vase on the Steinway are some roses. Over, in the corner, are the chrysanthemums. With no one around the rose looks over at the chrysanthemums and says. Why, you surely look very beautiful with your yellow petals. The chrysanthemums replies with a similar good and positive remark. They find they have been cut by the same gardener and then watered. As someone comes to the library where the flowers are they become hushed and wait for the person to leave. Looking at the rose, the wind blows the fragrance to the direction of the chrysanthemums . My, you smell especially beautiful. The rose hit; by the wind, bows to the remark. Soon they are removed from the library and are discarded. The wind up; in the same garbage can. The chrysanthemum dies first then the roses. And life begins again with the next set of flowers found; in the library. (© Poeticbearlovestowrite 2014) Vote for this poem |
