Oh how its so true over a whole life we knew
Of back when we all stressed and worried so..
Of when we spent so much time down life's line
Trying to change the world through life as we'd go..
Living our life to help along the whole way
Giving of ourselves each and every time..
Feeling that we were making somewhat of a difference
In every single way we could so ever find..
No distance then or trouble it mattered not
Making every day count some more than yesterday..
Not ever becoming weary or lack of inner energy
We gave our all best we ever could along the way..
Then after all said and done a life almost lived
We look often back at the way so many things still are..
And sitting alone on a porch of our moonlit home
We silently think has this world really come that far..
Now at an age our book has turned many a page
Of how we once ever so cared and strived to make way..
Thinking that all of the time on our own so fine
We could actually create maybe more sunshine on the day..
But here we now are and having come all this far
As we sit listening to the crickets singing so..
And then we simply confess it does not matter as much
As it all did once during a whole life worries glow..
We all tend to mellow and rest our once busy souls
Feeling that maybe we just could have helped a few..
But nothing really has at all changed that very much
Over all of the time within a world we all thought we knew ..
